Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW), the state’s transport authority, is one of Australia’s largest and most influential infrastructure agencies. Established in 2011, it brings together road, maritime, rail, and public transport services under a single organisation. Today, TfNSW employs almost 29,000 people and manages an annual budget exceeding AUD 23 billion. Its portfolio includes more than AUD 188 billion worth of infrastructure assets across roads, bridges, structures, and transport networks, serving millions of residents, commuters, and businesses across the state every day. With such scale and responsibility, TfNSW must continually innovate to maintain safety, efficiency, and reliability across its transport system.
To support these objectives, TfNSW extended its partnership with Asset Vision in 2024 for a further four years, reinforcing the platform’s role at the heart of statewide asset management.

Why Asset Vision Was Selected

TfNSW required a modern solution that could unify inspection, defect management, and forward works programming across a vast and diverse asset base. Asset Vision was awarded this contract after a competitive tender across both local and global providers — a strong endorsement of the platform’s capability and flexibility. It was chosen because it offered:

Scope and Deployment

Asset Vision was first implemented by TfNSW in 2018 to support regional maintenance contracts. The platform quickly became integral in standardising inspection and reporting processes across regional road networks. Today, approximately 600 staff in TfNSW’s Regional Maintenance Business utilise Asset Vision’s functionality as part of their day-to-day operations. In 2023, a major contract extension was awarded on a 2 + 2 year basis, with minimum licensing revenue of AUD 3.4 million. The extended scope includes forward works programming, supporting TfNSW in planning capital upgrades and maintenance programs with greater accuracy and transparency.
